Union Light - Self Check-In Hotel

The location is great, close to the lake and the Lion Monument. I appreciated the clean room, fresh towels each day, good shower pressure and hot water. There was a long power strip on the desk, plus two free water bottles and some chocolate in the fridge, a nice touch after a long trip. One of the twin mattresses was good, but mine was hard as a rock. There were a few frustrating details. Outside noise came through the windows, and the single curtain didn’t cover the whole window, so the sun woke me up. We tucked our jackets between the windows for a bit more cover, but the outside blinds didn’t close properly either. The listing mentioned shower gel and shampoo, but neither was provided. Luckily, we had a tiny bottle and there are stores nearby. Also, the bedside lamp’s big black plug blocked the remaining outlets, so I couldn’t use a regular phone charger and the lamp at the same time.

It’s easy to walk from here to the train station, restaurants and attractions, and the Wi-Fi was strong enough for video calls. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a fridge and AC. The overall look and feel is very good, though the paint is a bit dingy.

Self check-in worked like a charm, and the room was reasonably clean. But it was very small, dim, and only had the bare minimum, so it wasn’t very comfortable. Small things fell short too, like awkwardly placed sockets and soap dispensers that didn’t work properly. If you’re on a tight budget, the hotel is fine. Otherwise, paying more elsewhere may be worth it.

The central location and price make this a convenient pick for three nights. It had a lovely atmosphere and felt clean and comfortable. After our trip, it was comforting to receive a welcome message along with two bottles of water, chocolates and biscuits. I’d gladly come back.
