Residenza Du Lac

May 2026 We could happily spend hours on the balcony looking at the stunning lake view. The suites are incredibly spacious, with higher ceilings than a standard apartment, so they feel open and relaxing, like a home away from home. The hotel is right next to Lake Lugano, in the heart of the city. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and it almost feels as if you’re dining directly on the lake. The food was very good, though the coffee was average. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. Special thanks to Matteo for the great hospitality.

The apartment is very spacious, with a large balcony and a refrigerator, dishwasher, and automatic washing machine, though there’s no bidet in the bathroom. The hotel has two buildings, one by the sea and one opposite. Reception staff are helpful and accommodating. Breakfast is very simple: each person gets one plate with a croissant and water, and extra plates are charged. You need to provide a Visa card at check-in as a guarantee, to prevent charges or seizures. The hotel offers a Swiss card with various discounts. Parking costs 45 francs per day until check-out, and I wasn’t told it was paid. The city tax is 23.60 francs. The doors are locked from 6 PM to 8 AM. Guests have a small chip on their key fob to open the door and a remote that unlocks the car door during those hours. Remember that Lugano deserves more than a day trip, and you can easily reach it from the wonderful Coco.

We spent three nights at Residenza Du Lac and loved the apartment, food, location, staff, and surroundings. The staff were very friendly, and we highly recommend staying here. The one drawback was that garage parking was a bit too expensive.

The lake view and peaceful atmosphere made this a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature. The furnishings were elegant and comfortable, and the staff were cheerful and very helpful. A fantastic hotel.
