Camping Campofelice

The way we were treated at checkout was awful. My husband had been told the evening before that there would be no further charges if we left early, but a different employee made us pay an additional amount the next morning and laughed when we explained. Management later refused a refund or any goodwill gesture, saying they had done nothing wrong. We had come to Campofelice on 26-27 October with our three-year-old, specifically for the family activities advertised when we booked. On arrival we were bluntly told the season was over and all facilities and activities were closed. Nobody had mentioned that when we booked. When we asked why, the receptionist rudely said, “well, what do you want to do then, you can go somewhere else.” The room was dirty, with bugs, filthy floors, and hairs in the bed. The Wi-Fi also didn't work, so I couldn't get the work done I'd planned. This was one of our most disappointing and unprofessional stays. Even at the end of the season, guests should be treated with respect, and the room should be clean.

I can't comment on the rooms since I'm staying in a caravan, but the swimming and sports facilities are incredible, and the showers might be the best thing about this trip. You won't find a better one on god's green earth. I'll be back again and again. My one wish is for a child-free week at the site, because the screaming kids are deafening.

We’ve been here many times, but after this we might choose another camping next year. The facilities seem family friendly until you run into some of the staff. Kids feel tolerated, not treated like equal guests. In October only one pool is heated; the other two are 17 degrees. On a sunny day the pools are full of families, yet a pool staff member told us our children couldn't be inside because they weren't 16. The pool is deep, so of course they shouldn't go in without parents, but they should be allowed with us. Do I need a babysitter just to use the pool area? I also saw a family get yelled at for trying to warm up in the sauna with their baby. Children shouldn't be left unsupervised in big pools or saunas, but safety is the reason for those rules. This isn't an adults-only hotel, so children at the pool with their parents should be expected. I've only seen staff act like this at adults-only hotels. 🤮😬

The restaurant was very good, and I loved the steak tartare. The sanitary facilities are great, and there's a nice, well-stocked supermarket on site. I'm giving it five stars for the service, restaurant bar, and amenities. It just isn't for me. The site feels far too big and crowded. The pitches are big enough, but they're packed together without privacy or hedges between them. I went for ice cream and found you could pay only with cash or a wristband. Who carries cash these days? Not me! It's a great site, but I won't return in high season, too many kids 😆
