Hotel Alexander & Gerbi

The lakefront room views were incredible, breakfast was a nice experience, and we enjoyed the lido across the road, charming Weggis, and the gondola up Rigi. But the hotel itself was a very disappointing stay for a 4 star place. As a 3 star hotel it might have made more sense, but we expected much better. Our family suite had no air conditioning during hot weather, and the rooms were stuffy and uncomfortably warm. They gave us a tabletop fan, but I expected proper AC. There were lots of big spiders in the suite, plus a roach. The WiFi kept cutting out, perhaps because our room was in a corner farther from the routers. One night the hot water heater broke, so we had cold showers. I know things can go wrong, but after the other problems it was very frustrating. Service also fell short: there were no parking spots when we arrived and nobody helped carry our bags to the room.

A fun bar, a great breakfast, and a lovely pool and spa area made for a very nice stay. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, even offering rides wherever we wanted to go. I’d stay here again.

We had a fantastic meal with a magnificent view of the lake and Alps. My seafood Linguine was so delicious, and my friend really enjoyed the fish and chips too.

Hi folks, the location and hotel are very nice. We came to relax and have a cocktail, and wanted to sit on the terrace where there were empty tables during dinner time. Some tables had no reservation signs. We asked if we could sit there, but an older man, probably the head waiter, who seemed Italian or Portuguese, just said no, those were for dinner guests. If that was the rule, there should have been a clear reservation sign. The young woman at the bar was very nice. After bringing our drinks, she asked him again because most tables were still empty, but he said no again. My partner is African, and when he saw us, the man's expression changed immediately. I got the impression he assumed we would only drink, not eat, and that he wouldn't get a tip. In the end, the polite young woman at the bar got the tip. I wouldn't trust that man to look after my sheep if I had a herd, let alone put him in charge of a restaurant.
