The terrace opens straight onto the lake, and the views are great. Our rooms and bathroom were good, everything worked, and we had no problems like some earlier reviews mentioned. Food at the Central Hotel next door, which is part of the same company, was excellent too. The one letdown was that the restaurant wouldn’t serve tap water, even though they praise its quality.

The best thing about the Frohburg is its position and the balcony view across Lake Lucerne. Our top-floor room was spacious, with a big balcony almost over the water. The bed and bedding were comfortable, and the bathroom was roomy and practical. There were plenty of power outlets, which is handy with all our devices. It isn’t luxury, but it was more than fine for us. The setup is a little odd: it seems to be part of the business that also runs Hotel Central am See a few metres down the road, where you check in and have breakfast, and Restaurant Zee below. From the street the Frohburg feels like a small apartment block, with little atmosphere in the entrance. Staff at Central were helpful, parking was available, and breakfast was pretty good. I’d give everything a 5 except the public spaces feel rather cold, though maybe that’s unfair. The view and location deserve a 6.
