Hotel Alpenblick

The balcony view is the best part of the room, which is cozy and has the things you need: a kettle, Nestle coffee machine, mini fridge, hair dryer, magnified face mirror, full length mirror, plus a spare blanket and pillow in the closet. There are outlets everywhere too, so no hunting around or running short while charging devices. The reception drawers are thoughtfully stocked with wine glasses, coffee cups and capsules, tea, silverware, and more. I’ve stayed here a few times and had many Apéros on the terrace. Each visit has been lovely, and my dog has enjoyed running around the terrace when I’ve brought him. Karin and Nikola were friendly and helpful at check-in. When my digital key gave me trouble, Karin opened the door with a warm greeting and smile. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We wished we could have stayed longer, but already had other bookings. The hotel is rustic and charming, right in a beautiful spot on Lake Lucerne, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our clean, nicely decorated room was practical too, with a small kitchenette area, fridge and counter, plus a cozy nook where we could sit and enjoy the view even on cold, snowy days. A lovely place to unwind, with easy access to Lucerne and Mt Pilatus.

The evening staff were nice, but for the second time there was no breakfast ready at 7:30. My room was far too hot again, so I had to open the window overnight. I also left my shampoo there last week, and when I came back this week they hadn't found it.

Breakfast had a decent spread of homemade food, and I liked being able to boil my own eggs. I did have some concerns about the hygiene of the vegetable cutting board; it might make more sense to have the vegetables cut in advance. I couldn't find anyone at reception the entire time I was there, which was a problem when I wanted to ask about changing the pillows. They were much too soft and wouldn't hold their shape, and my neck was so uncomfortable that I couldn't sleep at first. I ended up using some spare folded duvets instead. On the first night, someone was repeatedly screaming and crying in the corridor around 3 a.m. It went on for five minutes and was loud enough to wake the whole hallway, probably the floors above and below too. The same thing happened again an hour later. I would have tried calling the police if it had continued, but there was nobody to report it to. For a four-star hotel, I expected more staff at reception.
