Berggasthaus Oberdorf

The view and facilities are beautiful, but access is terrible for older people. I took my folks for a drive and planned to treat them to lunch. We ordered three Toggenburger Macaronis, but the portions were small and the food was awful. At 25 francs, each serving was about a cup of macaroni with roughly two spoonfuls of ground beef sprinkled on top, a spoonful of some kind of cheese, and a little applesauce. Nearly 100 francs for three people with a drink each is outrageous. It felt like they assume their captive audience will pay whatever they charge. We left hungry and feeling ripped off, went elsewhere, and won't return.

The serving speed deserves five stars, but the food quality gets two, and the prices for that quality get one. The food wasn't acceptable for the high prices. A vegetarian burger with sloppy, soft fries was 32.50. They also charged 6.50 for a liter of tap water, and 14 francs for 1.5 liters of unbranded iced tea. That's crazy.

We had a good time up here, and the food was good. Everything looks quite new and clean, right by the first lift stop from Wildhaus, so you can start skiing as soon as you leave the house. We arrived late after the lifts had stopped running, and they provided a shuttle to take us up.

The scenery is jaw-dropping, and as an architect I thought the facilities were perfect. This was my fourth year in a row. Well done, everybody xxx
