Everything catches your eye here, thanks to the lovely decor, and Don Hugo is very welcoming. The young people serving breakfast were attentive too. I had a really good stay, though the price felt high since I've found very similar hostels for less.

The musty smell was strong and unpleasant, and the water stayed cold because they never fixed the problem. We went recently, and the rainy weather made the setting a lot less appealing than it probably is in summer. The climb was awful and exhausting, with mud everywhere and lots of aggressive stray dogs since the houses have no fences. Maybe that isn't the property's fault, but the area around it isn't great. I wish I'd looked into it more carefully. I've traveled a lot and know this kind of situation. $$$$

The terrace was amazing, and our room was comfortable with a spectacular view. Breakfast was spectacular too, with very good service from the staff. The lady was so friendly, and special thanks to the gentleman who helped us, he was very kind. I'd rate the room 7 out of 10.

The ocean view was easily the best part, and for a little while it helped me forget how bad the stay was. The staff were very friendly, so I have no complaints about them. But the damp rooms were freezing at night, and the poorly insulated bathrooms smelled awful. During cold, rainy nights, the zinc roof rattled so much we couldn't sleep, and we were numb with cold. We had to leave the electric heater running and worried about overloading the electrical system. The floors had textile coverings that seemed highly flammable. I didn't visit in summer, so maybe I would've rated the place better then, but I wouldn't come back. I think the owners aren't investing in the property and are just making money from it.
