Hotel Astore Suites

A budget place.

Breakfast varied from one day to the next, sometimes complete and sometimes missing basic items. During my stay, I had to ask for room supplies every day: soap and shampoo one day, towels another, and on another occasion the room still hadn’t been cleaned late in the day. There’s no air conditioning, and the reception service was hit or miss. It’s a run-down three-star hotel, and the value for money is poor. Service here seems left to chance.

We were surprised at first that the hotel is on the sixth floor, but the rooms turned out to be spacious and clean. The service was great, and breakfast was too. It’s a lovely hotel!

We stayed three nights, two of us. The staff were very, very friendly, and the food was good, though lunch was just so-so. The last two days, however, there was hot water and no cold water at all. Showers were scalding, and the toilet took an hour to refill. We had to use a container they gave us to fill the tank, which was disgusting. Staff apologized each time, but then we saw the water coming out hot, light brown, and cloudy as we refilled the toilet. We’d brushed our teeth with that water. Disgusted, we moved to the Ibis hotel and never heard from the owner again. She didn’t take responsibility, though she offered free lunch as compensation for the awful service. It seemed like the only guests who cared were the people from the mining companies, and I wonder whether they know what kind of water they’re drinking there. When we changed to the Ibis Express, we noticed the store price was higher; to be clear, that wasn’t because of poor service from the staff. The entrance and elevators also made a bad impression, with their shabby look, missing paint, faded design, and broken elevator parts. The whole experience was terrible. We asked the owner for a discount because of everything that happened and are still waiting for an answer. Maybe by 2030 she’ll call, since she has our information. The whole thing feels like a joke. It seems the owner only cares about getting money from the mining companies that put up their workers. With water like that, I think she’ll soon have to invest and change her ways.
