A very good flea market.

Students from Concepción come here to unwind after a long week. It's worth strolling past the bars and restaurants to see what's on offer. Some are very good, others only so-so, but trying several is worth your time. Around the plaza, you can also visit places like the University of Concepcion, which is open to the public 24/7, or take Diagonal street toward Mall del Centro. The mall has a cinema on the fifth floor and several fast food restaurants on the fourth. Diagonal also leads to the Palacio de Tribunales, standing at the end of the street. Ecuador Park, the city's biggest park, is about 10 minutes away and has a lookout with a nice view over the city center. It's open from 8:00 to 19:00. I wouldn't go to Plaza Perú at night with children: some people smoke weed there, and although smoking weed in public is illegal, the police aren't always around. If you don't want your children exposed to that, avoid it. I hope you enjoy the place as much as I have.

After classes, this is a popular place to meet up for drinks. There are often street food vendors, and you can find other things too. Nearby spots serve beer and food and allow smoking. Across the street, Universidad de Concepción's pinacoteca is an art gallery.

There's a nice range of food, and the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing.
