I’d raised my budget because I wanted a room with it, since most places on Rapa Nui don’t have it, and booked this house because it was advertised that way. There was no air conditioning when we arrived, so I hope the listing gets corrected. September nights were extremely cold. Even with all the blankets, I was shivering, and not being able to regulate the temperature was disappointing. The landlord speaks Spanish only, so I relied on translation software to communicate. That wasn’t very convenient, and sometimes replies took a while, though she was welcoming and eager to help. We’d confirmed the payment method beforehand, which was helpful: cash only, in US dollars or pesos. The cleaning could be more thorough. The sofa had sand left by previous guests, and they immediately cleaned the floor and wiped the cabinets when we checked in. It’s around a ten-minute walk to Angarooa’s main street, a little far but manageable. Roosters and dogs make noise constantly, though that may be typical for places to stay here.
