Maunga roa eco lodge

Carla made everything easy, from meeting us at the airport to sorting out a rental car and staying in touch during the trip. She was friendly and went out of her way to help with all kinds of things. The lodge was peaceful and had lovely island views. It’s outside town, which suited us, though you do need a car. Inside, there was a huge comfortable bed, soft towels, a fridge, hob, cooking gear, and wifi. It was cleaned every day. I couldn’t fault the place. It really made our Easter Island trip, and I’d happily recommend it.

The quiet was a big part of what made the stay so good. The place is peaceful, with clean and comfortable accommodation and lovely open views toward the eastern coast. On a clear night, the sky is amazing. It’s away from the main track, but the island is small enough that everything is still within easy reach. Carla is super friendly and helpful, and nothing seems like too much trouble. She offers a courtesy pick-up from the small airport. You can also rent a private car, which is a must; just pay Carla and you’re off. I’d highly recommend staying here for the peace and quiet.

Carla is such a sweetheart and a phenomenal, attentive host. If you arrange it ahead of time, she can pick you up at the airport, and cars are available to rent for about $70 USD a day. The lodges have strong water pressure and plenty of space for a couple. They’re in a gated area, which felt very secure. My one suggestion for Carla would be window screens to keep mosquitoes out. Maunga Ro Lodge is the place I’d tell people to stay on Rapa Nui. It’s outside town but no more than a 10-minute drive, and sits along the road toward Anakena beach. The sunrise views were a treat. I wish I could give it 10 stars, and I’ll recommend it to anyone I know visiting the island.

The owners made the stay special. They were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help, while still respecting our privacy. Their hospitality made us feel part of the family, but we had plenty of space to ourselves. Maunga Ro Eco Lodge sits on a beautiful farm with ocean views. It feels secluded and peaceful, yet remains close to Easter Island’s main sites, so exploring was easy. The lodge was cozy, well kept, and private, and the natural surroundings gave us lots of room to relax. We loved the mix of nature, comfort, and local hospitality, and can’t wait to come back.
