El Arbol Hostel

The two women working there were lovely, welcoming, and helpful, with tips for things to do and bikes available to rent. I stayed at el arbol for two nights and wished I could have stayed longer. It's a small, homey hostel, well placed near the bus station and very close to the main plaza. It was consistently clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. I can definitely recommend it.

The common spaces were so cozy and nicely designed, and the whole hostel was spotless. Even the fresh, comforting smell throughout the place made it easy to relax. The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, and the tasty breakfasts and soap and shampoo in the showers were thoughtful touches. I stayed a whole week, not because of La Serena itself, but because I felt at home here for the first time on my travels instead of just passing through. It was easily my favorite hostel of the entire South America trip. If you're after comfort, soul, and a wonderful atmosphere, I can't recommend it enough.

A quiet, lovely spot that was full every day with great people. Breakfast was good and free, and the staff were super nice. The location worked well, near shops and the bus station. The bedroom doors need oiling, and the beds shake like an earthquake. Would recommend.
