Hostal Elim

I’d recommend staying here. The owner was very helpful, and the Wi-Fi worked for what we needed. Our room was charming and clean, with adobe walls, wooden beams, and a thatched ceiling. It is small, but there’s enough space for a stay in San Pedro.

The location is great, and the outdoor areas are lovely, which makes it a shame that the staff were so unhelpful and disrespectful. We had arranged breakfast for 6am because our group had to leave early, but all they prepared were ham and cheese sandwiches. There was no vegetarian choice, and the orange juice carton they gave us was only half full. No milk, cereal, or toast either, as you’d normally expect. The hot water didn’t work, and neither did the radiators. When we told the staff, they came into our room and just switched them off and on again. They knew neither worked but acted like they’d fixed them. I can’t believe how little they seemed to care about guests.

Breakfast was included, the bed was comfortable, and the rooms were clean. We had room 12, a triple, with a river running in front. The staff were friendly, and there are pleasant outdoor common areas. It’s quiet and comfortable, really more like a hotel than a hostel, though a little pricey.

The reception was very helpful, and the service was amazing. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a really convenient location. Highly recommended, a lovely and helpful hostal, the best in San Pedro!
