The owners were kind and helpful, and the clean, nice rooms made this a great place to stop while passing through. There was a town-wide blackout on the night I stayed, so the owner moved me to a larger room at the back, away from the generator noise. It's about a 10-minute walk into town. A good spot for motorbike overlanders too, since you can get your bikes off the street and safely behind a gate.

Taltal is a hidden place, and Piedra Blanca Hostel has the right idea.

The location is a bit removed from the main square, about a five-block walk. At night it doesn't seem very safe, and the shops close early. Still, the hostel is clean and safe, has parking, and welcomes pets. Carolina provides great service.

We were only passing through and stayed one night, but the accommodation was excellent. The owners were very friendly, and they have all the amenities as well as parking.
