Angel Hostal

I spent 10 days here in the off-season and had a great stay. The price was reasonable, and for a longer visit you may be able to get a discount. It's a cozy little hostel with friendly staff and good vibes. The location made it easy to enjoy the city, with what you need inside or just around the corner. I'd stay again.

It seemed like an ordinary hostel when I first arrived, but the little touches stood out once I had spent some time there. It's small but nicely balanced, with a terrace, a good breakfast, spices in the kitchen, and plenty more.

There are some nice things here: the rooms aren't cramped, the kitchen is well equipped, and there's a pleasant terrace for sitting outside in summer, even though it faces inward. The location in the heart of Valparaíso is another plus. But the stay could have been better. Breakfast felt short for the number of guests, and people seemed to compete for sandwiches. There is only one shower, so I often had to wait. Our room was right beside the bathroom and sometimes smelled of sewage. The staff weren't very welcoming at times, which made me feel more like an intruder than a guest; the mood carried over to the other guests, and conversation was limited. It's an okay hostel for what you pay, but it has room to improve.

When I stayed at the Angel Hostel in February 2018, it was very clean and well looked after. I loved the distinctive decor, and the staff were friendly and full of useful information. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone passing through this beautiful part of South America.
