Hotel Reina Victoria

The room was uncomfortable, with a hard foam slab for a pillow, and the floors weren't clean. The walls are paper thin, too. There was no air conditioning, and getting to the room meant walking up three floors. I didn't feel there was a safe place nearby to walk to for dinner unless you were with a group. The front desk clerk didn't speak English. Breakfast didn't start until 8:30, not even coffee before then, and it was very sparse: one piece of bread with eggs, ham, and cheese, no fruit. I'm usually easygoing about accommodations, but this was really awful and creepy, the worst place I've experienced.

The rooms are plain and simple, and the price is budget friendly. This Victorian-era hotel has antique-style photos of the British Monarchy above the room doors, plus a spiral staircase that's quite unique. The location is great, and it's one of the more interesting hotels I've stayed in.

The city view from the room was beautiful, and it was quiet and pleasant. The shower was spacious with strong water pressure, the room was clean, and the pillows were very comfortable. Still, the mattress sinks, the room is small, and the TV is old. The wooden furniture had an unpleasant old smell. There’s no elevator, and maintenance seemed lacking: the toilet wouldn't flush until it was fixed, then the problem came back. For this kind of hotel, the price felt a bit high.

The staff were very helpful, and it’s a rustic hotel in a good location. We stayed for New Year’s Eve, and they had some goodies for guests. The view of the party from our room was great!
