Hotel Pandora

I woke up with little bites all over my arms and legs, despite wearing long pants. The room was tiny and had strange stains on the floor, shower, bed, and toilet. Water was leaking from the room next door into a puddle outside its door. When I told staff, they brushed it off and said that room gets like that when people shower. The air conditioner blows straight at the bed, leaving you to choose between cold air all night or an uncomfortable room temperature. Getting there is awkward too. You have to go down a small alley and take an elevator to the 9th floor just to check in, with only a tiny sign to guide you. Reception had cancelled my booking, so I had to pay in cash. It's dirt cheap by Hong Kong standards, but wasn't worth the discomfort or trouble. Pay a bit more and save yourself the hassle. I wouldn't recommend it even to budget travelers.

The reception staff were friendly enough, but the room was a nasty surprise. Black hair was all over the bathroom walls, towels, sheets, pillowcases, and even underneath the bedding. There was fungus on the ceiling outside the room, dust everywhere, and the floor looked like someone had thrown up on it. Nothing like the photos. Don't go unless you're happy cleaning your own hotel room.

The pictures are deceptive, the rooms look nothing like them. There are other hotels in the same area, so you can stay nearby. I had to give it a star to post this, though I wouldn't give it one otherwise.

The location was the one good thing. The room was badly maintained and smelled of cigarettes even though we'd booked a non-smoking room. The bathroom and facilities were dirty and in poor shape.
