SNOOZE Capsule Hotel

We met some cool people and are still in touch, and there's a communal hangout area and free breakfast. The rest was a mess. The place calls them capsules, but they're just small bunk beds with curtains. Our double capsule was no bigger than a standard one, so a couple could get two beds for the same price. The advertised Wi-Fi didn't work, and the locker was only big enough for my wallet and phone, so I carried my laptop around for two days. Finding it was strange too. There are no signs outside, and we had to enter a dodgy-looking apartment block and ask locals if they knew it was there. After we got our capsule number, someone else was already in that bed. Reception said, 'thats just how it is here'. We took another person's capsule, but its electricity didn't work, so we moved again. Convenient location, but poor value for the price.

The capsule gives you decent privacy, and the location and price are good. But the one-person space is tiny, especially since there's nowhere to store your things. There are no lockers, and the capsule only has USB, so you can't charge a laptop. Some USB ports don't work at all, just holes in the wall. The bathrooms were dirty, staff didn't seem very motivated or friendly, and the common room is tiny. Breakfast is served on a little balcony with hardly any room. There's no sign downstairs, so it's not easy to find. I emailed with concerns about safety given the situation in Hongkong and never got a reply.

We paid for two people, but they sold us a single bed. The place is old and dirty, with nowhere to sit. Calling it a hotel is a joke. If a doghouse is what you're after, book it. Sxxk!

We arrived at Snooze Capsule before check-in and were told to leave our bags and come back later. So far, fine. But when we returned, the front desk man said our Booking.com reservation had been cancelled. I had received no cancellation notice. He offered a shared room, which we accepted and paid for, and that's when things went badly. The room was tiny and in a terrible apartment with two disastrous restrooms. The people in the apartment frightened my family, and we wouldn't even go into the room. I went back downstairs to ask for another room, but was told none were available. I still hadn't received any cancellation notice. When I said I wanted to leave, the man said he would keep the first night's cost, even though I hadn't stepped into the room. He refused to return everything I'd paid. My family's safety came first, so I took the money he gave back and left that awful place.
