Ulucaho - Hostel

The shared kitchen was spotless and well looked after, and breakfast changed daily with very good quality food. My dorm was spacious and had its own bathroom. The shower water was properly hot, not lukewarm. It’s a quieter neighborhood on Cr 3, but still close to public transport and lots of tourist sights. There’s a small courtyard full of plants and flowers, a nice place to catch some sun when it isn’t raining. They also have a dog and two cats. I loved staying here.

The staff are nice, but the place felt odd, more like staying at someone’s home than in a hostel. The family who run it spend time in the common areas, so it doesn’t have much of a backpacker vibe. The rooms aren’t anything special, and we found hair on the sheets and in the bathroom.

I got a warm, helpful welcome, even though we were only there briefly. The hostel is very central but calm, with a huge common area, a comfortable sofa, and a nice garden. I was sick, and after checkout at 11.00 am they let us stay in the common area and use everything until our 23.00 flight. I spent the time on the couch. I also left my residence permit in the room and only realized during the flight. When I contacted them, they offered to look into different companies and were ready to mail my residence card to my adress. In the end, I arranged for friends to pick it up from the hostel. The chubby cats are cute too. I’d absolutely stay again.

I stayed in the tee-pee, and it was cold and damp at night. The hostel itself is family-run and feels authentic, tucked inside a garden near the city centre of Bogota, with a friendly cat and a hen. Breakfast tasted great, though I wish the portion were bigger. The coffee was strong and great too!
