Hotel Savoy

Full.

We had a bad experience and I wouldn’t recommend this place. The location is in a dangerous area, and the service was appalling. We’d booked two rooms through Booking.com for two couples, but on arrival they said half the hotel had no water and put all four of us in one room. It had just two towels and ONE BLANKET for everyone, yet they charged the same amount as they would have for the two rooms. There’s no room phone for contacting reception or reporting problems, so every request meant walking down three floors, or however many it took. They’d say someone was coming, but nobody ever showed up. Things are extremely expensive, too. And if you sleep through breakfast, they won’t knock or otherwise let you know, even though there’s no phone in the room.

The terrace has an excellent view, and the hotel is close to the historic center. I found the area safe during my stay, despite what some people say. Mio public transportation stops just a block and a half away. This is a historical landmark, and Mr. Mauricio has lots of interesting stories that make a visit to the city more engaging. The architecture is beautiful and keeps being improved. Rooms are spotless, staff are very friendly, and for the price I don’t think you’ll find a better hotel. Highly recommended for good value, history, and the chance to make friends, as well as a place to stay.

Arranging transportation was easy, and the staff were very friendly. This is a classic city landmark, clearly old but still charming. Renovations are ongoing and might bother some travelers, though I had a good experience.
