Wyndham Garden Cartagena

We had a really nice four-night, five-day stay at Wyndham Garden Cartagena. The room was roomy and comfortable for the three of us, and the location made getting around easy, close to the airport and about a 10-minute drive from Getsemaní. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The souvenir shop girl was especially pleasant, and the woman making our omelets each morning was cheerful and kind. Mateo was great too. The breakfast buffet was very good. My one suggestion would be to keep the pool open later than 7 p.m., ideally until at least 10. We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cartagena.

The rooftop was a highlight for us. The pool was lovely, usually almost empty after breakfast, and the view from up there was really nice. Breakfast came with our booking and was worth having, with made to order omelets, scrambled eggs, rice, potatoes, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and pastries. The staff kept everything tidy and were friendly. Our room was comfortable and clean, with adjustable A/C and a balcony looking onto the busy street. The shower only got lukewarm, which was okay. Everyone we met on staff seemed to speak Spanish only, so a translation app or a little Spanish would help. We managed fine and adjusted. The location is handy for the airport and near beaches and food markets. There are also a couple of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. We took Ubers to spend the day in central Cartagena, about 10 minutes away, and paid 11,000-15,000 each way, which felt reasonable. Walking around nearby seemed safe. I went several blocks to a supermarket; there are a few, including one with more touristy foods and another with a more local selection.

For 395.607 COP, around 100 USD, I thought one night here was a fair deal, and I'd probably stay again if I return to Cartagena. I was at Wyndham Garden for a night in October 2025. I'd read some alarming reviews and expected the worst, but the room surprised me. It was neat, modern, and clean, with no dampness or mold smell. That's unlike a place I stayed in Bocagrande, which was terrible. I also heard no airport or street noise. The balcony was large and had a nice sea view, and there was beer and soda in the minibar. The A/C worked perfectly. The bed was a little soft for my taste, but I didn't mind, and the reception staff were attentive and friendly.

The food was terrible, the drinks overpriced, and the pool tiny. The beach was dirty too, and the food around the area wasn't much better. On top of that, they charged me $120 for a small laundry bag. I've never paid that much for laundry. The bathroom was small and they never had towels. Don't waste your time coming here.
