Getting the stay invoice took more than a week. I had to keep asking over email, text messages, and the Booking platform throughout that week. There’s also no acoustic isolation between rooms at all. You can hear your neighbor snoring as if they were in the same bed. I’ve never had such a bad hotel experience anywhere in the world, and I don’t recommend this hotel.

My partner and I are here this week for wedding preparations, and our room’s bathroom is covered in mildew. When I asked to move because of the room’s condition, they said there wasn’t another room until the third night of our stay. But as soon as I said I wanted to cancel and go elsewhere, suddenly they had a room available. It’s completely unacceptable for a room like this to be offered to guests, and for nothing to be done until I brought up canceling. I understand there has been recent flooding in this area, but rooms affected by it shouldn’t be available before they’re fixed. We booked through Amex, and they’re currently avoiding Amex to give us a refund. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The noise was so bad we couldn’t rest, and the lobby had loud disturbances and apparent prostitution activity, which made the place unsuitable for families. The room was dirty and poorly maintained, with visible dirt and mold. The mold raised serious health concerns, especially since I was traveling with a child. These conditions weren’t disclosed when we booked, and the property was drastically different from what we’d expected and what had been advertised. The stay failed basic standards of safety, hygiene, and habitability, causing significant distress and inconvenience while traveling with a minor. I believe this qualifies for coverage under trip protection and/or travel disruption because of misrepresentation and unsafe lodging conditions. I’ve been battling with Expedia for nearly three weeks to get a refund, but they’ve been evading me and Expedia. They never respond.

We had a great stay at the Blue Suites Medellín. Cristian and Faber at the front desk made a real difference with their thoughtful attention and service. They went the extra mile for us. Highly recommended!
