The community work was one of the things I valued most: the school organizes service opportunities and donation drives for underprivileged communities in the area. I spent three months here as a solo female traveler, taking in-person Spanish classes, and can’t recommend it enough. The atmosphere felt welcoming, safe, and inspiring. I made wonderful friends among both the teachers and students, and memories I’ll carry with me. Students came from all over and were different ages, which made for a supportive, diverse community. The school arranges activities nearly every day and on weekends, including fruit tours, walks around El Poblado, salsa lessons, Comuna 13 tours, Mirador El Cielo, trips to Parque Arví and Parque El Salado, fútbol games, Guatapé, paragliding, and more. They also put on holiday-themed events. I took a mix of standard and intensive courses, and the teachers were kind, patient, and truly invested in students’ progress. Lessons explained grammar clearly, then reinforced it with games, activities, and written and spoken exercises, which helped the material stick. Staff speak only Spanish. It can be challenging at first, but that pushes your brain to adapt and survive in a new environment, and you can see your progress. Whether you’re staying briefly or studying long term, it’s a great place to learn Spanish and immerse yourself in Medellín.
