Centro Hostel Medellín

The hostel is hip and very nice, with clean, comfortable rooms, friendly people, and amazing showers. We had loud neighbors all night, though, and the location in Centre isn’t as good as El Pablado, but that’s a choice. I’d read that breakfast ran out quickly, but that isn’t the case anymore since they put up a sign showing the exact portions for each person. Handy, though we found the portions too small: one small bread, two very hard eggs, and a banana.

The staff were nice, but the stay was rough. Our first-floor room got woken up over and over by the phone ringing whenever someone came in, since it signals staff to open the door. The neighborhood felt pretty sketchy, with no good cafes or restaurants nearby. They advertise a coworking space on Hostelworld, but there were only a few tables in the common area, and the Wi-Fi was too poor to get anything done.

The only real problem was finding lots of little bugs in our room. Otherwise, we had a helpful, friendly staff, and the room was cleaned daily with towels provided. We stayed three nights in a private four-bed room, and the simple breakfast was good.

I stayed here twice while I was in Medellin, and it’s easily one of my favorite hostels. The metro is close, and the staff are super friendly. It’s clean and modern, with a well-equipped kitchen, social areas, and hot showers. A really good spot for backpackers.
