The location is a big draw: Manila is growing fast, with restaurants, champagne brunch places, and cafes all around the nearby intersection. El Poblato nightlife is an easy walk away, too, and the room was very affordable. We had a studio-style room on the fourth floor, with a full kitchen and wide windows looking onto tropical plants on the ledge. The shower and toilet were open air. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner cooled the room when we needed it. There’s a brunch restaurant downstairs and another on the rooftop, both with lots of tasty options. There was street noise and construction from the new buildings going up nearby, though it died down at night.

The noise is the main drawback, and it happens every night. There’s weekend music and late-night crowds, but those aren’t the only sources. Light sleepers may have a hard time. Even so, I’ll probably stay again. Manila feels safe and is easy to walk around, so the location worked well for me. The hotel is modern, and the rooms were clean and well kept, with good housekeeping. I had a small laundry problem, but the hotel responded quickly, thanks Karen! Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, thanks Mirabol.

The biggest problem is the noise outside: crowds, cars, barking dogs, construction, and loud music. The room windows do little to block it, so keep that in mind before booking. There’s no phone in the room, either, so you have to go to reception with any requests. The wooden-style rooms are cute, and there’s a nice restaurant and coffee shop downstairs. Our room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, but we were only there for two nights and didn’t ask about it. The hotel also charges extra for visitors, even for a visit of about an hour. El Poblado has a lively atmosphere for drinks, food, and a bit of partying. Many restaurants there cater to Western tourists, which makes them more expensive.

The neighborhood was lively and felt very safe, with plenty of bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, and breakfast was included. We ate at the entrance cafe, which had a varied menu and delicious food. We stayed two nights and, thankfully, didn’t see any cockroaches, unlike some other reviews mentioned. The only downside was the nighttime noise. If you need quiet to sleep, good luck with that 😂

The noise was awful, and the windows barely block it. It felt like trying to sleep outside. There were no cold beers, just the cheapest options, in hotspot Poblado!? I was really disappointed. On our last night we gave up, walked out, and found another hotel. It was just too much. Go somewhere else.
