Hotel Portofino

It's a comfortable hotel, but there are quite a few management problems. Some staff members are rude, and the dining room only offers two drinks, usually including iced tea. Snack portions are limited too. Ask for more than two, and they say you're not allowed any more. The food choices aren't great. Sometimes the morning salad shows up as a side dish in the afternoon. The dessert bar has a few good items, but most of the rest is cake with decorations to make it look appealing.

It's affordable and close to the beach and shops, with a pool on site. There are new policies and taxes guests have to pay, but I still think it's a great place to visit and stay. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all amazing. The showers only have cold water, as is the case in some parts of Colombia 🇨🇴.

The room was humid and had ceiling stains, and the split AC leaked constantly. The condenser looked like it had never been maintained. Even the reception AC didn't work, so we were sweating while waiting for our room. The servers were rude, and the rooms had a lot of problems. The bar was awful too, with cheap, horrible tequila in the four bottles used for cocktails. I could go on listing everything wrong. I'd spend a little more somewhere else so the money you put into your vacation is worth it.

The mattress was the only good part. This place takes in big crowds of unsuspecting tourists, but feels too small for that volume. The restaurants are uncomfortable, packed, chaotic, and the food isn't impressive. The hotel is noisy and low-grade, and the hallways are often dirty and cluttered with laundry and other housekeeping items. Checkout is at 1 pm, while flights leave after midnight. That leaves the small lobby full of people, luggage, and maintenance equipment, total chaos. Don't bother with the pool area, and skip this hotel if you want to relax in style.
