If you want a quiet place to rest, don’t come here. Loud music and people screaming were constant, including daytime music and a woman shouting about games and dance lessons. It was so loud you couldn’t just spend time around the hotel. I stayed 11 nights, and every one was a nightmare because guests had parties nonstop until 2 am. There’s also a nightclub on one of the floors, which would be fine for two nights a week, but the parties happened every night. I complained, and the staff wouldn’t do anything. My first room was filthy, terrible, beside the pool and the hotel’s daily show, and had no bathroom door. I changed rooms the next day, but there were cockroaches. Pigeons were on the buffet and tables. Staff and guests were rude. They give you no information about services or activities, so you only find things out as they happen. The food was alright, but tasted old and not fresh at the special restaurants. The rooms are old, some of the hotel is being remodeled, and there’s no internet. Service was really bad overall. They didn’t clean the first night, left me without a hand towel the second, and took all the towels away on the third. Just a pile of nonsense and an example of what not to do in hospitality. Spare yourself the headache.

The breakfast scene was awful: there was a constant chlorine and sewage smell in the restaurant, and a woman sat near its entrance with her child vomiting for over half an hour while staff did nothing. Big live and dead cockroaches were also all around the pool and restaurant. Inside, it felt like a canteen, with no music and people banging chairs and cutlery. The food was disgusting, mostly stewed, chewy meat with no flavor; when I asked for salt, they said they had none. Guests were often very uncivilized, and nobody intervened. Check-in took forever, and staff gave no information unless I asked. Getting to the beach club at the other Sol Caribe was our responsibility too, including arranging and paying for transport. There was no shuttle. A horror of a hotel.

The building and its atmosphere didn't make it easy to relax, either in the room or outside it. Anyone could walk in from the street, with no visible security or control, so the place felt chaotic. Even the service phone didn't work. Check-in was a long wait despite our advance reservation, and the hotel felt overrated from the start. My partner and I asked to move to another similar hotel from the same company, but staff made changing the booking to the other property, far from downtown, extremely difficult.

The rooms were clean and roomy, and there was a good range of tasty food. I also felt welcome as soon as I arrived because the service was so warm. The whole place had a cozy, inviting feel. I had a lovely stay and would recommend it!

The incident happened on May 28, 2022, and I'm writing this on December 8th, 2024, two years later. I still deal with tendinitis, awful scars, and daily pain, and the hotel hasn't followed through on resolving things as they said they would after I left. On my first day at Hot Sol Caribe San Andres, just a couple of hours into the vacation, the shower door shattered when I closed it. Glass hit my face, arms, chest, legs and feet, basically the whole right side of my body. I needed stitches in my left arm and right foot. At first, the hotel covered my medical bills and medicine, moved me to another room, and brought dinner on the first night. After that, the hospitality was terrible. They never offered to keep bringing food to my room, so I had to walk on my stitched foot to the buffet. Staff weren't attentive or compassionate. Think twice before booking here.
