The manager made my stay at Alajuela City Hotel memorable. He was exceptionally kind and took the initiative to help me get a SIM card, sticking with it and supporting me with real care and energy. He kept advocating for me with Claro through bureaucratic hurdles and the usual slow responses from officials until the card was finally activated. He’s also a remarkable person with a finely tuned sense of humor, which made a frustrating process easier and genuinely enjoyable. Costa Ricans are known for their warmth, and that certainly rang true, but his personal initiative and wholehearted help went even further. I’m deeply grateful, and I highly recommend the hotel for the service and for people like him.

We stayed for a week while a family member was in a nearby hospital, and the family running the place made a difficult week with lots of unknowns easier. We had a late check-in, needed extra rooms, switched rooms, and had other changes. They were very understanding and accommodating throughout. The location is convenient, the shared kitchen is nice, and everything was always clean. Nights were quiet. The beds are firm, which suited our backs, and the pillows, sheets, and towels were nice. Communication was easy in both Spanish and English. Highly recommend.

The tap water was safe to drink, and the room and bathroom were clean. There was a fridge, and it was fairly quiet. The price was good, with interesting things within easy walking distance and the bus stations not too far away.
