Hotel Villas de la Colina

I spent five weeks here on sabbatical while writing a book, and it was a welcome break from my hectic life. I loved the privacy, the beauty, and the hospitality from Tannia and Kevin. Breakfasts were amazing, the weather was perfect, the pool was always well kept, and the room had just what I needed. This is a beautiful, rustic, authentic Tico getaway. If you’re expecting a 5-star experience, you’re in the wrong place, but for a short or long stay I can’t recommend it enough.

Tannia and Kevin take excellent care of their guests, and we had everything we needed for our Costa Rica stay. When we mentioned that the shower head wasn’t working properly, we came back from our outing to find not only a new shower head but a new refrigerator too. Breakfast was phenomenal every day, with fresh mango from the yard trees, cantaloupe, pineapple, and watermelon. The main dish changed daily and was fantastic. Great food, service, and accommodations at Hotel Villas de la Colina.

We’ve stayed here more than once and have really enjoyed it every time. The owners are so welcoming and attentive, and the rooms, lovely views, lush garden, and really good breakfasts keep bringing us back. Thanks to this great hotel for making us feel at home.

There’s a mix of wildlife passing through, and the views in several directions are remarkable. At night, seeing the lights of San Jose is stunning. The hosts are friendly, know the area well, and can suggest restaurants and places to visit. It’s within an hour of the airport, so it works well as a first or last stop, or as the destination for your trip. They also have long term rental options: 1 or 2 bedroom cabins with kitchens, laundry, and housekeeping.
