We stopped at the hotel's bar and restaurant today for a quick drink. We didn't see any menus, so we asked for a glass of red wine. The bartender offered merlot or cabernet, and when I asked the price, said around 7000 colones a glass. She also showed us a Mexican wine. I asked whether it was in the same price range, and she said, "more or less," meaning around the same. We agreed and ordered that bottle. When the bill came, that "more or less" wine was 12000 colones, almost double. We thought there'd been a misunderstanding, but there wasn't. A glass of red wine cost $24 usd, a BIG difference from the price range we had discussed. We paid and left VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!

The location was great, with good restaurants and a plaza nearby, and breakfast had enough vegetarian options. I spent a week at the Residence Inn and had a good experience with the friendly staff. Christina was especially helpful, arranging a city tour and even offering to book a private tour with a trusted driver. I chose the city tour, but appreciated how she went the extra mile to help with my San Jose experience. There was a minor issue with a wet carpet after cleaning, but it dried the same day and they gave me hotel flip flops. The room had coffee, but no snacks. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Your attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction showed throughout our visit. The front office team, along with the breakfast, restaurant, and bar staff, all deserve five stars for how they treat customers. What made this stay stand out was how the team responded when I had a medical emergency. They acted quickly and professionally, and showed real compassion. Their calm, helpful response turned a very scary situation into one where I felt supported and cared for. It's rare to find a team so well trained and so dedicated to guests' well-being. To everyone at the Residence Inn San Jose Escazu, thank you for going above and beyond when I needed it most. Big shoutout to Nicole and Dayana. The property is beautiful, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and perfectly located. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, especially because of the incredible people working here.

We arrived at noon, and they said they'd do what they could to have our room ready by 1pm so we could have lunch. We got back to the hotel at 3:20pm, after check-in time at 3pm, only to be told the room wasn't ready and we'd have to wait another half hour. It was supposed to be a night out for my birthday, but the hotel choice made it a bad experience. The location is good, but the service is awful. Worst experience ever. Will never come back.
