The restaurant was pleasant, with food and drinks at reasonable prices, and the pool was a good size with comfortable chairs and loungers. The hotel is centrally located and well appointed. We booked room 116 directly with the hotel, expecting, as we usually do, that a direct booking would mean a better room within its category. We'd chosen a triple room because my wife and I like having space and comfort for a three-night stay. Instead, our room lacked several features shown in the hotel's room photos: there was no chair or desk, safe, or wardrobe, and the bed didn't fit against the wall, leaving a gap where pillows could fall behind it. The bathroom had been made from a cupboard and looked nothing like the pictures on the booking sites. Getting in and out meant doing a Paso Doble with the toilet. The pictures don't lie, and it's easy to guess which photo shows room 116. Had the room and bathroom matched what was advertised, we'd have had no trouble giving Cayuga a top rating. As it was, room 116 was a big disappointment, and if we'd known, we'd have paid extra for a Triple Mini Suite. We could have raised it while there, after a long journey, and no doubt the response would be that we should have said something at the time. But guests shouldn't have to spend their time fixing issues Cayuga should have got right to begin with. None of the other hotels on this trip gave us problems. Pura vida.
