The restaurant was pleasant, with food and drinks at reasonable prices, and the pool was a good size with comfortable chairs and loungers. The hotel is centrally located and well appointed. We booked room 116 directly with the hotel, expecting, as we usually do, that a direct booking would mean a better room within its category. We'd chosen a triple room because my wife and I like having space and comfort for a three-night stay. Instead, our room lacked several features shown in the hotel's room photos: there was no chair or desk, safe, or wardrobe, and the bed didn't fit against the wall, leaving a gap where pillows could fall behind it. The bathroom had been made from a cupboard and looked nothing like the pictures on the booking sites. Getting in and out meant doing a Paso Doble with the toilet. The pictures don't lie, and it's easy to guess which photo shows room 116. Had the room and bathroom matched what was advertised, we'd have had no trouble giving Cayuga a top rating. As it was, room 116 was a big disappointment, and if we'd known, we'd have paid extra for a Triple Mini Suite. We could have raised it while there, after a long journey, and no doubt the response would be that we should have said something at the time. But guests shouldn't have to spend their time fixing issues Cayuga should have got right to begin with. None of the other hotels on this trip gave us problems. Pura vida.

A minisuper is right next door, and the hotel has private parking, a large pool, and a hot tub. It looks beautifully renovated, if not entirely new. The biggest problem was the Wi-Fi. The signal didn't reach my room, though I don't know whether it was only an issue in that room. That really sucked, so one star off for the Wi-Fi.

The parking is easy and right in front of the hotel, and the coffee at breakfast was good. Otherwise, my stay at Cayuga Hotel was mediocre for the price. It might be okay for one night, but I wouldn't suggest staying longer. The hotel was noisy. Music played by the pool almost all the time, so it was anything but relaxing. Reception noise came through clearly in the rooms from as early as 5 a.m. Someone there also seemed to use a phone with an extremely loud, unpleasant ringtone, especially noticeable in rooms 113 and 114. The single rooms are very small, with the toilet and shower basically right in front of the bed and little privacy. The main light was harsh, like industrial lighting, and uncomfortable. The AC worked, but getting a comfortable temperature was difficult: 24°C felt too cold, while 25°C was already too warm. Breakfast was okay, though the so-called “yogurt with fruits” was actually very sweet fruit yogurt with some fruit pieces, not natural yogurt as you might expect. Staff attentiveness was the main letdown. Usually no one even greeted us, not even a “Merry Christmas” during Christmas. It felt like guest comfort wasn't a priority. On the second day, we didn't get the fresh foods at breakfast, and on the last day only one of us got fruit. The other had to ask for it and got a questioning look. With the noise, room layout, and inattentive service, I wouldn't recommend Cayuga Hotel for a longer or more comfortable stay.

The rooms were clean, and the pool was refreshing. All the staff went above and beyond to help with our limited Spanish, my gluten allergy, and our interest in doing more in the community. I'd definitely stay again.

The location was handy and reception was open around the clock. Our room was clean and neat, but it had no window. Breakfast didn't start until 7:00, which was too late for us to eat.
