We stayed for two nights as part of a G Adventures tour, and the hotel was in a brilliant location. The local bus stop is only two minutes away. Quepos is a beautiful town and the people are very friendly. The staff were amazing, especially after I had an accident with some broken glass. They reacted quickly to check that my husband and I were okay and were so accommodating. I’m really grateful for their help, particularly the night manager. I honestly can’t rate the staff highly enough. Do yourself a favour and book here if you’re heading to Quepos.

As a solo woman traveling, I felt safe and comfortable the whole time at Hotel Wide Mouth Frog. It was great value for money and offered more than I expected. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, with special thanks to Natan and Cristal at reception for being so helpful. I got there before check-in and could leave my bags for free in a secure spot behind reception while I went out, which was really convenient. The rooms were clean, the WiFi worked smoothly, and there’s AC, a pool, and a nice shared area to relax in. Getting to Manuel Antonio National Park is easy by one bus or a short taxi ride. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

The location felt safe and was handy for lots of nearby restaurants and shops. Soda Sanchez is just steps away and has great food with plenty of choices. The room was very clean and quiet, the staff friendly, and the outdoor area and swimming pool were great. The hot tub was actually colder than the pool. Onsite parking is limited, but there’s usually space on the street. A good option for visiting Manuel Antonio, and for the price it’s worth considering.

I came to Wide Mouth Frog hotel in mid-December. The pool area was great for relaxing after a long, warm day, and the staff were helpful and nice. I accidentally left my backpack with all my personal things, including my wallet and IDs, on December 21st 2025. I’ve been in touch with them since and have received three updates but no progress. They still haven’t shipped it to me, which is really disappointing. It shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.

The place is clean and affordable, and it seems to have plenty of potential. Still, the presentation makes it look better than it is. We strongly recommend getting a balcony room. Otherwise, you might end up with only a window that has to stay covered for privacy. Breakfast was the worst we had in Costa Rica: for USD 10 it was tiny and not tasty at all. The staff were okay, but it depended on who you spoke to. It was acceptable, though it felt more like dorm-style accommodation than a proper hotel.
