They were full when I stopped by, which made sense given how popular the place seemed. They were still kind enough to let me use the internet and helped me find someone I could call, letting me use the phone too. My Spanish is pretty good, though not perfect, and having at least some Spanish is important. I spent just a little less at Hotel mango, where I'm staying now. The room was large and clean, and breakfast was great. But it had no window, only a fixed frame facing a blank wall, so there was no light or ventilation. Getting to it meant going up stairs, down stairs, then up again. The layout seems insane and like a fire trap. I don't think this should be allowed to exist. In 50 years of travel, I've never seen anything like it, and a fire and building department anywhere in the USA would never allow it.

The staff were courteous and helpful, and there's a bar on site. Breakfast is included, with typical CR food, and other choices are available for a charge. A Mexican restaurant also delivers here, and the menu is at the front desk. It's a quaint boutique hotel within walking distance of restaurant options. We liked the Asian restaurant directly across the street, the food was tasty and portions were generous. Be aware that stairs are needed to get anywhere in the hotel, so it's not a good fit if you can't manage them.

The mattress was the deciding problem for me. Its broken springs made me feel like I could roll right out of bed. The toilet ran all night, and a missing louver on the AC unit sent air straight onto the bed. It might have been an okay stay otherwise. I think management might have moved us if we'd raised the issues, but after a very long drive we were too tired to ask. I don't think I'll risk staying there again.
