I showed up at 3 p.m. for my reservation. The receptionist spent about ten minutes on the computer, checked my passport, and called someone, then said the listed price was wrong and asked for another $50 USD. They wouldn't honor the booking price, so I declined and went to look for somewhere else.

The food was good, and the hotel felt safe and family friendly. Rooms were clean, service was great, and the staff were friendly. I'd recommend it.

I don't usually leave bad reviews, and the first staff we met were really nice. We had a private room, but the toilet cistern was broken and leaked onto the floor. The shower didn't work properly either, with water running down the wall. After a walk we rang the bell to get back in. A staff member opened the door and disappeared before we could even say we didn't have towels.

The house is lovely and old, and I liked the large room with air conditioning and its own bathroom when I first arrived. But the bed was so uncomfortable that I woke with a sore back and couldn't sleep well. I'd booked two nights, but left after just one.

The restaurant downstairs was tasty and reasonably priced, and breakfast was simple but good, with bread, eggs, fruit, and coffee. Our private room and bathroom always had hot water, and the staff were super nice. We felt safe too, since you have to buzz to get into the hostel. We've stayed in a few hostels, and this was one of the nicer ones. We'd definitely come back!
