The stay was a letdown, and the service, cleanliness, and facilities fell short of even basic expectations. For what it costs, it just isn't worth it. The hotel is advertised as four stars, so I hope management works on improving the experience.

If I could rate it minus five stars, I would. Tourists visiting San José, don't waste your money on this place. The staff were arrogant and impolite, and nobody paying for a room should have to put up with service this poor. @Hotel Ambassador, we can see guest service isn't your strong point.

Breakfast was good, and the room itself was clean, with fresh towels and sheets and a good shower. I was on a group tour and couldn't get a room with a proper window. The one I had looked into a shaft, had no blind or curtain, and let light in. Air conditioner noise starting and stopping kept me awake through the night. A room with no view outside feels claustrophobic to me. If all you need is a bed...

Ariel at the front desk even helped me arrange a nearby car rental, and every staff member I dealt with was great. The place was clean and very nice, with mountain views from the front-facing rooms, though traffic noise can be loud. I'd like to stay here again soon.

The cleaning crew and kitchen staff were the best part of the stay. Otherwise, the breakfast menu barely changed from day to day, and unit 609 smelled bad. Staff offered neither a refund nor an apology. The decor felt like the '70s, and the older woman at the front desk was rude to my family and showed us no respect. There was no hot water at the sink, and the shower pressure was laughable. I was charged $10 for a small wash towel because they thought I'd stolen it. I returned it on my next visit anyway. Hope your experience is better.
