Monteverde Ecolodge

We hadn’t planned to stay at Monteverde Ecolodge. We made a mistake with our reservations and ended up there because it was the only hotel with rooms available. It turned out to be a great stay. The room was around $60 a night, very clean, and breakfast was included. We’d wanted a private bathroom, but none were available for our dates, even though the hotel does have private-bathroom rooms. The shared facilities were spotless and well kept. The hotel itself was extremely clean, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Its location made it easy to get to local sights and restaurants. It’s an affordable, welcoming, comfortable option with great service, and we highly recommend it even if you’re sharing a bathroom.

My room was huge and airy, and I slept really well. It was a quiet, comfortable place with very nice people. I was happy with my stay at Monteverde EcoLodge, and breakfast was excellent. I could walk into town easily, but I took a taxi back because the hill up to the lodge is very steep.

The host was friendly and helpful, and I was welcomed by her two sweet dogs and cats. The place was clean and in nice condition, within walking distance of the city center. They can also help arrange tours and rides to them, so just ask at reception. My only reason for not giving a perfect score was that some dogs were barking outside at night and kept me awake for a while. I’m just a light sleeper :)

My room opened onto the forest, and I slept to the sound of wind in the trees. It may have been my best sleep in months. There’s a shared kitchen and shared bathrooms, and breakfast is included. Great accommodations for the price. Highly recommend!
