Ezio is the kind of person you don’t come across everywhere, and he made our stay unforgettable. His place is beautiful and rural, with nature all around, starry skies, and his cat Diego. We loved the local breakfast and delicious dinner. You’re only a few minutes from the Cova at the top of the mountain, a great starting point for several hikes. Getting there by colectivo is easy, or by taxi if needed. Ask Ezio how to get around and he’ll help. There may not be many other guests at once, which is a real plus, since he really looks after the few people he hosts.

We were the only guests for our one night in June, which is low season, so Ezio had time for us. We enjoyed the gnocchi he made and had some nice conversations. I can see why there are negative comments, since it seems Ezio doesn’t currently have enough help when there are too many visitors. Go with an open mind. He has put a lot of love and effort into the place, and if he isn’t busy with many guests, you can have a good time.

Fantastic food, a very friendly and helpful owner, and beautiful rooms made of natural stone. The location is great too, close to the crater.

The stone houses are cute, and the host is very nice and helpful. It’s a lovely mountain stay close to cova crater. Be prepared for cold mornings and nights up there. When the clouds clear, the sunset is lovely, with views of Porto Novo, Sao Vicente, and Mindelo. The homemade gnocchi and pasta with tomato sauce are very good, and the soup too. Definitely try the gnocchi. The menu can change each day. Breakfast is cachupa or bread with jam and butter, plus fresh pear juice. Aluguers to Porto Novo run at 7:30 in the morning or 14:30 in the afternoon for 250 CVE per person. The WiFi is available, though not very good.

A quiet, romantic hotel up in the mountains, with a warm and available owner who shared all his trekking tips. The homemade pasta, bread, and jam were delicious. Best experience in Cabo Verde so far!
