Hotel Royal Ricc

The bed was comfortable, though the room felt a little warm even with temperatures of -2 outside. It was clean, and the bathroom seemed reasonably modern, with lovely hot water whenever needed. Staff were welcoming and helpful when we needed something, but the morning staff were a bit sullen and didn’t speak. Breakfast was a nicely arranged continental spread, with scrambled eggs and bacon when available, though they weren’t always there, and the table was refreshed often. The biggest problem was the WiFi. Decent WiFi should be standard in a hotel these days. We stayed three nights. Someone called this place luxury, which it definitely isn’t, though it is nice. The location is fantastic, right in the center with easy access to everything. It sits in a restricted area, so taxis have to pick you up and drop you off outside it, but the walk is only a few minutes. The quirky 16th-century decoration and layout felt overwhelming and a bit oppressive at first. I can see how some people would find that authentic charm, but it made the rooms very dark. I’m not sure I’d stay again, since I prefer modern hotels, but it’s a good fit if you want local character.

The location and interior are both lovely, and breakfast was good. The rooms are generally nice and clean, though some bathrooms are showing their age. Housekeeping sometimes misses things, like leaving dirty tea cups in the room instead of replacing them.

The service was so kind. At 5 AM, I went downstairs because the coffee maker in my room wasn’t working, and they made me a cup in the kitchen. I needed caffeine to get some work done while jet-lagged, and they were gracious about it. This is one of the most unique, quaint, beautiful luxury hotels I’ve stayed in Europe, a 16th-century baroque Hotel. If I could, I’d give it six stars. It’s been too long since my last visit, and I’ll definitely be back.

I had a wonderful stay here with my parents. The regional Moravian decor is beautiful and distinctive, and breakfast was great. Ondrej at the front desk kindly helped my parents with printing, and after checkout the whole reception team helped me send back documents I’d foolishly left in the room. The staff were amazing. Thank you!
