Grandhotel Ambassador Narodni Dum

A very nice luxury hotel, and I'd especially recommend the sauna. Thanks to the owner, who always smiles and carried my heavy luggage to the front of the elevator.

Breakfast was extensive and really well prepared, and the staff were friendly from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, with a bathroom equipped with everything we needed. The hotel is in a beautiful spot right in the city. I didn’t get a chance to try the pool or wellness facilities, but they’re a definite bonus. A lovely stay.

The room was clean and spacious during our three-night stay, which we booked as a spa package. But the layout of the building made using the spa a hassle. The spa reception is on the third floor, and access to the pool and sauna is only through that area. We were on the fourth floor and wanted to use the sauna after 7 pm, but the elevator wasn’t available once the spa area closed. We had to go down the stairs all the way to the basement in our bathrobes, with no warning about this. When we asked about pool hours, we were told it was open until 9 pm, but nobody mentioned the access problem. They should have told us. There was also a couple in the sauna playing music very loudly through a Bluetooth speaker, as if they had the place to themselves. It made relaxing impossible. I wanted to complain, but the person handing out towels couldn’t speak English or German and just told me to go to reception without understanding what I was saying. Unbelievable. We booked at short notice for a spontaneous stop in Carlsbad. If I’d had time to choose, I wouldn’t have picked this hotel. I’ll plan earlier next time so I don’t end up with a poor night’s rest.

We spent a long weekend here and found the pool, with its three different kinds of sauna, amazing and very clean. Breakfast was good, and the service was excellent. Dinner at the cozy Pilsner Urquell restaurant was delicious, with attentive, polite, quick service and great food. The garlic soup starter was especially memorable. There’s parking with electric vehicle charging, and the hotel is right in the center, with lots to explore on foot, including Charleston, Parisienne, and Original Karlovarskke Oblatky. Last year’s New Year’s Eve gala dinner was amazing too. Happy New Year 2025 to everyone.
