Hotel Cvilín

Up above Krnov, this is a cozy spot with a great view, and the walk into town takes about 10-15 minutes. The only downside was having winter duvets on the beds in summer, especially with no air conditioning in the rooms.

The surroundings are lovely, and the breakfast was plentiful and really good. The rooms were clean and nice, though a little smaller than I expected for a junior apartment, and they look like they haven’t been renovated since the place was built. Booking through the website kept failing with an error about the company details. The actual issue was that the regular rooms were already booked. I spent 45 minutes trying to sort it out, and nobody answered the phone. It was a pretty bad welcome. Such a shame, because I love the area and they could have provided better service.

This was our last day in Krnov, and I’m really upset it ended this way. We waited around 45 minutes before being told nobody was in the kitchen to make breakfast, so we were told to use the buffet instead. It was already empty, with no plates or bread. A disaster. Nobody seemed to take proper care of us, and the service felt very unprofessional. I didn’t eat anything from that lousy buffet, but they still asked me to pay for breakfast. Given how this went, I thought they could at least have given us coffee for free. I can’t recommend this hotel, and I don’t understand where its four stars come from.

We planned to have lunch at the restaurant with my family on Sun, Aug 14th, but left after dealing with staff who were unkind and unprofessional. We had our dog with us and understood that he wasn’t allowed inside. We asked if he could wait outside in the shade by the parking area, but the hotel employee wasn’t happy with that either. When we asked for water for him, she made a face. It was some of the rudest and least helpful service I’ve encountered in a long time. I strongly wouldn’t recommend this place to people traveling with pets.
