Penzion Pod Sudem

The owner was great to communicate with, and we had a lovely five days over New Year's Eve with our group of families and children, filling the whole guesthouse. We all really enjoyed the big common room downstairs, with its toys, kitchenette, bar, fridge, and tap. The apartments were cozy and beautifully furnished, with fully equipped kitchens, and the whole place was very clean. There are nice walks nearby, and in winter, places to go sledding. Locally, you can also use the artificial-grass sports field or community gym. If the weather turns bad, there's skating at the winter stadium in Tanvald, plus Babylon, IQ park, and IQ Landia in Liberec. Just over the hill, the Polish village of Swieradow Zdroj has a bobsleigh track, ski area, and Treetop Trail. Smědava is 9 km away, with beautiful cross-country ski trails. I'd highly recommend staying here, 10/10.

Ferdinand Cottage was a lovely place to spend Christmas 2025. The owners had put up a tree and decorations, and left a small gift for our children and dog. The cottage is new and clean, with plenty of room for a stroller or skis, storage for clothes in every bedroom, a well equipped kitchen, and a few toys and books for the children. It was peaceful around the cottage, which suited us with our three small children. There's a pub and a little shop a few minutes' walk away, open every day. Just right for a relaxing break without having to rush anywhere.

We come back with our group and kids twice a year, and have done so for fifteen years. It's a place to see friends, talk, relax, and go for a morning walk on the trails. We don't come only for cycling. You can cook in your room, get draft beer downstairs in the pub, and the kids have games to play. There's also an outdoor grill and seating. Dogs are welcome. I can't imagine a holiday without this guesthouse. Srdcovka.

The owners are great, communication was top notch, and parking at the house was easy. The modern apartments are lovely, clean, tasteful, and have everything you need for sleeping and cooking. It's a great base for trips to Jizera, in a quiet, sleepy spa town where you can still find what you need. One local quirk: people are almost universally reluctant to take cards. A few things to know: the upper apartments really are upstairs, so everyone has to use the stairs. They cook with gas, which might surprise you if you've never used it and your kettle catches fire. The Wi-Fi also isn't very stable if you plan to work.
