GLOBE Hostel Prague ADULTS ONLY

The location is the only positive. I had the worst hostel experience in 15 years of travel. Global Hostel Prague felt poorly managed and impersonal. Reception was staffed for only around three hours a day, and the rest of the time guests were left to themselves and watched on cameras rather than helped by people. The hostel is in a run-down, shady building, and I didn't feel there was any real security. For an early checkout, I wasn't allowed to leave my bags inside the hostel and was directed to lockers in public view, outside the secure area. The access codes were shared with multiple people. Someone accessed the locker holding my bag and valuables and left it open, so someone could have taken them without my knowing. When I called to ask why guests were directed to use an unsafe system, the response was essentially, “We're just the reception, we have no control over it.” There was no accountability, concern or solution. Hygiene was poor throughout. The bedding was bad, the pillows awful, and cleanliness standards low. The place didn't feel cared for, maintained or professionally managed.

During my week there, the bathroom drainage got worse and worse. It was already bad in the first few days, and after a shower the whole bathroom would flood because there wasn't a proper floor drain. I messaged the front desk, but they ignored me and took almost two days to reply. No one told me that showers were forbidden after 10 p.m. The front desk didn't mention it at check-in, and I couldn't find that rule in the house rules. After I'd showered, some girls who'd just checked in told on me, lol. I guess they were mad because they couldn't shower or something, but I don't know. Then a staff member called me out and asked what time quiet hours were and how long I was staying. When I answered, he said, “Okay, this is your first warning.” Meanwhile, other guests were talking loudly in the corridors late at night and early in the morning, and nobody stopped them. Getting treated like I'd done something wrong for taking a shower made me feel like I was in prison. The staff member's attitude was arrogant, like he was a leader or a teacher. Seriously, did he need to act that way? I've stayed in quite a few hostels, 10 or more, and this was the worst. I've never been somewhere that restricts shower times like this. If that prison-like experience is what you're after, this place is perfect. NOT RECOMMENDED. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

I really liked my stay in the female-only room. It was clean and comfortable, and the price was very reasonable for central Prague. The shared kitchen was tidy and had everything I needed. The atmosphere felt friendly and safe. I'd definitely stay again.

After travelling for about 20 hours, I was exhausted and checking in late. Luckily, Asal Khan was at reception. He has such a pleasant personality and was caring, sensible, and truly human. He made my day. The hostel standards were outstanding too. Highly recommend it, and Asal Khan deserves far more appreciation than I can put into words.
