Penzion Alča

The park next door was lovely, and the staff were welcoming and took an interest in you. The room was large and pleasant, but run down, with two single beds pushed together instead of a double. They creaked, and the smell of chemical cleaners lingered. Still, it was good value for money, and I'd recommend it for a single night.

Never again. There was mold in the corners of both the room and the bathroom. Seeing the promised double bed was disappointing: it was two light, basic single beds pushed together, with a full five-centimeter gap between them. As soon as I lay down, I sank through the mattress and ended up on the floor. The bed slats were loose and couldn’t be secured. Breakfast was two slices of toast with one slice of salami, one slice of cucumber, and half a slice of tomato, plus a little bowl of hot sauce.

The room was clean and spacious, and the staff were friendly. Everything was fine apart from the toilet, which was too high and uncomfortable to use.

We came with friends from Usti, but the room was a disaster. The beds sagged, and the bathtub and faucet were broken. Breakfast was served much too late and was awful: no coffee, some kind of omelet slapped onto two slices of white bread, and bananas that seemed to be from last week. The restaurant was way overpriced too. Never again, Penzion Alca.
