The lack of an elevator was the biggest problem, especially since I’d asked in advance for an easy floor for my 80-something-year-old mom and me after heart surgery. They didn’t respond to that request and put us on the third floor, which is the second floor by European counting. With luggage, those stairs were difficult. I asked for help taking it down when we checked out at 6 AM on Monday, and confirmed again the day before, but nobody showed up. That was extremely disappointing and inconvenient. We were also left waiting outside for over 10 minutes when we arrived around 3:05 PM because the front desk wasn’t there. The old building had poor sound insulation, so we could clearly hear footsteps above us. The room had no towels or toilet paper; Dennis brought towels, but they had holes. Two bathroom lights were out, including the one by the mirror and the shower light. The hotel needs updating. This was a tacky, worst-ever Prague experience, and I won’t stay there again, though I might return to Prague. Next-door Josephine seemed better, with staff on site and an elevator.

The room was very spacious, and we didn’t hear noise from the courtyard below. The bathroom was fantastic and the shower was amazing. It was 33 C during our stay, and the air conditioning worked really well. Our host met us when we arrived, gave us useful information about places to eat, and spoke English very well. Breakfast was included at a cafe around the corner. It’s close to everything, and I’ll stay here again when I return to Prague.

The staff’s behavior was awful. They demanded our credit card number and expiry date, saying it was required at every hotel in Prague. When we refused, one of them threatened to call the police. I asked for my money back because I didn’t feel safe staying there, and then he backed off, handed us the form, and said to fill in as much as we could. The explanation for wanting the card details was that they might need them if we damaged something in the room. It may look pretty, but this felt more like a room for rent than a hotel. Thank goodness we only stayed one night. The whole thing was clown behavior.

Pavel sorted out our transfer after a late flight and was there to greet us. He spoke perfect English and was very helpful. The room was large, had a lovely view, and the air conditioning was great during the hot weather. We heard a little noise from the bars outside on the first night, but not after that. Breakfast came with a voucher for Bond cafe. It was okay, though not traditional enough for us, so we arranged our own breakfast afterward. I’d highly recommend Marchant's Yard Residence.

The rooms in this historic building were surprisingly spacious, the amenities were generally in good condition, and the location was good, with a metro station five minutes away on foot. But there was no reception or staff on site when we arrived. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes before a helpful young man finally let us in. This happened in March 2022. The hotel claimed it had an arrangement with a neighboring hotel’s reception, but that arrangement no longer existed. We booked through booking.com, and the managers told them there was a 24/7 reception. In reality, check-in required an appointment. The young man said these things don’t change overnight. I don’t think a place without reception or staff deserves to be called a hotel. The entrance has no doorbell, and check-in happens at the booth shown in the pictures. Very poor service.
