Penzion pod svahem

We stayed with family for three nights, but I'd only suggest this place for an emergency overnight stay, one night at most. The upper bathroom tap didn't work, so after using the toilet there was no way to wash our hands, never mind brush our teeth. When water did run, there was just a regular bar of soap, which seems wrong for a shared bathroom. The shower had no mat, only plastic around the cubicle that stuck to us. Water flooded the floor afterward, and there was no cloth or mop. We had no toilet paper the first night either, though we later found some in a cupboard one floor down. The listing says there's heating, including outdoor heating. Indoors it only worked late at night, so bring neoprene if you don't want to freeze. The outdoor heater needs a gas cylinder that you have to buy yourself, and its hose was damaged, so we didn't dare use it. The listing also mentions a grill, but you have to bring your own and, like us, will probably end up grilling by the roadside. The fridge in the downstairs kitchen was broken and seemed more likely to freeze all the food, with its control not working. The washing machine and dryer weren't clean, and the way the bed linen was stored in the closets didn't look good either. This was the worst accommodation we've ever stayed in. I rate it very poorly.

The apartment balcony had a corner of paneling coming loose by the door. It doesn't look like a new problem, since it's held up by a rusty wire and needs attention. Parking could be better too: a longer car or van sticks quite far out into the road. Nearby there's a pub and a shop, and dogs are welcome. The apartment itself was fine for me. The kitchen had everything needed, and the bathroom was okay. But it's close to the road and the walls are thin, so it may not suit light sleepers. I just lie down and sleep. For undemanding travelers, it's decent accommodation at a good price.

The kitchenette was so cramped there was nowhere to eat, and the housekeeper kept washing clothes in the machines, which was constantly disruptive. The room is only suitable if you're not overweight, because there isn't room to turn around, even in the bathroom or shower. We didn't even dare climb in there. The advertised photos were nowhere near the reality. I know they promote it as cheap accommodation, but it still went beyond what I expected. Never again for me!

The location worked really well for us, with Špičák, the train and Germany all a short walk away. The manager was helpful when she handed over the keys, and the shared kitchen was fine despite being a bit cramped. Still, the basics were a problem: hot water only seemed to run at certain times, especially in the morning, and we couldn’t find any explanation. The room heating also worked only at certain times, which made no sense to me. We stayed three nights, paying about 300 per night. Our double room didn’t have a double bed, just a standard bed, one bedside table and a wardrobe. It could also have been cleaned more carefully before new guests arrived. The overall service gets 3/5. My girlfriend and I rate the stay 3/5 too, since heat and hot water are basic needs, especially on vacation.
