Hotel-Restaurant Zum Rebengarten

We only went to the restaurant, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. The food was delicious and the owner was very nice. If you’re really hungry, this might not be the place for you, but with a normal appetite I’d recommend it. They even let us bring our small dog.

We chose this hotel because it sits right by an access path to the Rheinsteig hiking trail, and the location is really convenient for hikers. The room was old-fashioned but clean and perfectly adequate for a night on the trail. The owner seemed a bit grumpy at first, so I understand the reviews saying she was unfriendly. After a few sentences, though, she was quite friendly and chatty. Dinner was disappointing. One dish was very small, and another, with mushrooms, had a bitter aftertaste, so I decided not to finish it. Breakfast was plentiful, with fresh rolls, and there was nothing to complain about. The food was inconsistent.

We’ve been here twice now. The location in beautiful Rhöndorf is ideal for excursions, and the hotel was very quiet. Our room was clean and spacious, with really comfortable mattresses. Breakfast was varied and delicious.
