Hotel Garni An der Weide is just a few blocks from the train line that goes straight into central Berlin, with no transfer, and close to a good shopping area. That made a big difference in choosing it. The room wasn't fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the staff kept it fresh, clean and easy to get to. The staff really stood out. They handled the challenges we brought them professionally and kindly, and helped us in ways other places might not have. They were compassionate about helping us fix my planning mistakes. I wish I remembered their names so I could thank them. I highly recommend the hotel.

We slept well, and the room was comfortable. We needed somewhere for one night in Marzahn, near where we had to be the next morning. There were plenty of shops and restaurants around, and we walked to Honower Strasse for dinner. It wasn't a bad experience. Breakfast was very basic, nothing to write home about.

Lots of flies, and the substitute for air conditioning seems to be a fly swatter. The hotel is right on a main road, so it's really noisy. Staff speak German, Polish and Slavic dialects, but not English.

The highway runs right by the windows, though it wasn't too bad. Nice hotel service, and the receptionist was great.
