Hotel Grenzfall Berlin

I had a terrible stay, and my trip to Germany was ruined. My belongings were stolen after a cleaner ignored the DO NOT DISTURB sign, even though I'd also told him directly not to clean that day. My mother and I were inside when male cleaning staff repeatedly opened our door with a master key. One time my mother was changing. The inside latch was broken, so we couldn't secure the door. When I reported the theft, a female staff member, M, was rude and racist. She shouted “SHUT UP” when I said it was an emergency, then laughed while talking with the cleaner right in front of me instead of apologizing. She refused to call the police, saying they would take too long, but they arrived quickly. There was no accountability, and the discrimination was blatant. The hotel felt highly unsafe, especially for women. Asian women, do not stay here. Avoid it at all costs.

The staff were very kind, and in summer it must be lovely to eat breakfast in the green garden and courtyard. Breakfast itself wasn't very varied, though. The hotel is close to the center and the Berlin Wall Memorial, with large rooms that felt clean despite somewhat worn furniture. Parking costs €19 per night.

Breakfast was a letdown. We arrived at 9am, with breakfast running until 10, but most things were gone and nothing had been replenished. We had to ask for every slice of meat or cheese, so I wouldn't pay extra for it. The apartment room was basic but spacious, the bathroom was big, and the balcony was great. We got a decent deal, which made it worthwhile. The location was okay, great for university-related business but so-so otherwise.

I couldn't get a booking confirmation by email, and no one replied when I emailed. After several calls, I was either hung up on or sent to voicemail. This is a really unprofessional way to treat potential guests.
